Paleo Challenge

You may or may not have known that 11 (12) of your classmates are competing at the Mid-Atlantic Hopper Challenge.  Here is your chance to get in on a competition yourself!  We are having our fourth Paleo Challenge!

But before we get to the details, why should you join this challenge? First, accountability.  If you actually sign-up for something, and have a chance to win something, odds are you will work harder toward that goal.  Second, everyone wants to win something! We are giving you something to win! Third, everytime we have run one of these challenges, the results have been phenomenal.

The first challenge was actually a Zone Challenge with the original 4pm class.  Only 6 people did the challenge, and they had all been CrossFitting with us for about a year.    The winner lost over 12lbs and 5% bodyfat.  The second challenge was open to anyone in CrossFit and Sport&Health.  We had co-winners, a male and female who both lost over 20lbs and 6% bodyfat.  The last challenge we had was won by a very overweight woman who had tried “every diet under the sun” (her words) and nothing had worked since she had kids 15 years ago.  She won the challenge and lost 35 lbs and over 10% bodyfat (her husband finished second and lost 25lbs.).  Why did I just go over all that shit? Because in every instance, diet was the factor that was changed.  We tell you that you cannot outtrain a bad diet, that what you put in your mouth matters.  But these challenges proved it to all who were in them.  Now is your chance to find out how much diet matters.

PRIZES

1st place gets 1 free month of CrossFit at our box.  Sorry, no silver and bronze medals here.

RULES

This challenge will last for 9 weeks starting next Thur., Sept. 1 and end on Oct. 27.  Why this long? So you can get right before all the shitty Halloween candy and Thanksgiving/Christmas goodies tempt you.  But seriously, if you get dialed in now, the holiday shitty-eating fest will be much easier to weather.  The cost to enter this is $20 (cash only).

JUDGING

This challenge will be judged by several things.  First-sight.  We will take pictures of you at the start and end of the challenge.  Dudes will be shirtless, chicks will wear sportsbras.  Second, inches and weight.  We will measure bustline, waist, and hips.  You will be weighted on the same scale.  Third, performance.  We will have several workouts that will be repeated at the beginning and end of the challenge.  We will measure your improvement. Last is a food journal.  Don’t worry we will provide them, but this will help hold you accountable.  Turn in your food journal every week and Coach Sam will review your log and give it back to you the following week with changes you can make.

OTHER SHIT

Sam will go over nutrition in detail next week.  He will cover basic paleo, dialing in paleo, and applying paleo principals to the zone.  This diet is not cookie-cutter and we will make it fit for you.
